Cory's mouth went dry when he noticed she was looking at him. "I was just uh...admiring your work. Your very strong." she said lying through her teeth. Mentally kicking herself she turned away and pondered for a moment. "Which ever is easier for you to get. I really don't want to be a burden. I'm just here to help you."

RuneHawk passed her a loaf of bread and some cheese and meat before he remembered he'd forgot his water canteen and went back to the saddle bags and unhooked that. He noticed he was running a tadge low on water but shrugged and returned back over to the fire and placed the water canteen on the blanket between the two of them indicating with a gesture she should feel free to drink. Then he started to eat his own meal, choosing meat in preference to cheese.

She munched away at the bread he had handed her and looked down at her toes which were now marked with nasty looking scars. She sighed deeply and looked down at the ground as she continued chewing. Cory was extremely uncomfortable with her body, mostly because she was marked so much. It was another reason why she was exiled from her tribe. She wasn't perfect and that wasn't what an elf was. An elf had to be beautiful which she was not. "Thank you again, I owe you very much."

RuneHawk shrugged slightly "its fine," he muttered as he continued his simple meal. Yes it was simple but, it suited him fine. It was adventurers fair, that was all he was bothered about

Cory smiled slightly and shrugged, eating some of her cheese now. She leaned her head to the side, the fire gleaming in her deep eyes. She wanted to speak but no words really came to her lips. She just stared intently, muching eagerly.

RuneHawk had soon finished his meal and stretched slightly trying to relieve some of the tension in his muscles. He currently wasn't aware of the effect he caused on his companion. "Once you've finished your food feel free to borrow the blanket, I'll stay on guard duty," he muttered

Cory watched him stretch and felt a shiver run up her spine. She swallowed the last of her food and stood, limping over to the blankets and grabbing one. She sat down near him and wrapped herself in it. She faced him but looked at the fire as it danced in the pit and in her eyes.

RuneHawk slowly stood up and moved to sit on a rock nearby taking Gungnir with him his eyes dancing in the firelight, the fire light rippling over the contours of his muscled body. He could feel the warmth of the firelight on his back and the Rune Poem seemed to glisten with an inner glow of its own. "You should get some sleep," he said softly. "I'll wake you,"

"I'll try." she said meakly, her eyes glistening in the firelight still. She looked up at him and sighed. As soon as she turned up she had her head turned back towards the fire. She hated being so alone. It was scary.

RuneHawk sat still, almost like a statue, unmoving. He took sentry duty very seriously. After all if anything happened to either of them... he would very easily blame himself

Cory settled down a little bit, cuddling up in the blanket. She got herself comfortable on her back and tilted her head back, letting a soft melodious song trickle from her lips:

"Pëndsú lläén oúryú ïmetë áitingwí órfën hattë écondsë hancécä
Orfen hëten rëacbä hattó íllwa ácemó tïen coen

Cory's eyes filled with tears but she held them back and turned over, closing her eyes against the flood of emotions. She missed her home and this was the first time in ten years she had cried about it.

RuneHawk smiled as he listened to her song his eyes still watching the darkness. He looked up at the moon allowing his eyes to track its motion across the skies for a few minutes shivering slightly as the cold started to set in. He moved over to the fire throwing a few more sticks on the fire to keep it burning nicely

As she begins to settle down she hushes the last part of the lullabye to herself, her sweet melody turning into a sorrowful hymn.

"Nién heten rmsäth fóen naén Ngelath lyfën wäyath romfá erehä
Romfó histë ärcdë, óldcë ótëlhá óomra, ndaén héten ndléssnesseth hattí óuyën éärfë

"

Once she finished, she cleared her eyes of her tears and closed them shut again, pushing herself back onto her back to stare at the stars.

RuneHawk could feel himself starting to drowse off but he shook himself awake going over to his water canteen and taking a small drink from it before he resumed his guard post.

The night passed peacefully, though come morning RuneHawk was sat asleep at his guard post, his head fallen forward slightly a few strands of hair having fallen forward into his face.

Morning had come as if she had just blinked and the sun snuck up. She rose from her blanket and stretched a bit, her ears straining to hear RuneHawk. She opened her sleepy eyes and saw him leaning in the same spot he was last night. Tip toeing over she knelt down and brushed his hair from his face and smiled, tilting her head to the side. She stood up and turned, going to get her blanket to keep the nippy air from getting to her.

RuneHawk had stirred slightly, but he was absolutly shattered. He'd not been sleeping well the past couple of nights, this was the first nights peaceful sleep he'd had. His hawk had already taken off circling the air above. His draft horse grazed peacefully at the grass

Cory pulled her blanket from the ground and pulled it up over her shoulders. She pondered whether she should put her cloak back on or not but she decided not to, on a count of it was kinda itchy. She returned to RuneHawk and sat next to him, feeling a lot safer near him. She laid her head near his lap and looked at the fire pit that he had made the night before. She bit her lip and shivered a little. "Hmpf..." she sighed.

RuneHawk shivered slightly in his sleep partly as talking of the devil the bad dreams had decided to keep him company and partly because of the fact that there was the early morning chill in the air. Looked like someone had spoken a mite too soon

As she laid there, very still she felt RuneHawk move a little. She sat up to see his eyes fluttering beneath his lids and a cold sweat on his forehead. Cory moved his hair away from his face and wiped the persperation on her sleeve. She shook him a little in hopes that he would wake from the dream. When he didn't she shook him a little more, holding her cheek to his and whispering in his ear. "RuneHawk." she muttered softly. "Wake up...come on....wake up."

RuneHawk woke up rapidly one hand instantly moving to check that he'd not got a hole in his side, or that there was no spear there. Just a tadge disorientated. He winced at how stiff he was his vision slightly sleep bleared

Cory fell back from his initial movement. She looked up, fearful. She didn't say anything just scooped her blanket up and moved quickly to her spot on the other side of the fire. Cory sat down and looked at the ground, hoping he wouldn't notice her quite yet.

Once RuneHawk had affirmed that it was indeed a dream and hadn't had a spear impaled through his side in real life he yawned before giving a great big stretch trying to ease off the stiffness and wiping the sleep out of his eyes. As he slowly stood up he stretched again feeling the stiffness starting to leave

She continued to stay quiet, her eyes avoiding him. Just pretend like nothing happened Cory, pretend like nothing happened. she told herself mentally. A silent grumble passed through her stomach but she ignored it, her toes shifting in the grass.

"good morning," he said quietly out of politeness to Cory even as he hunted for something to eat for himsel and Cory, breaking the last loaf in half and passing half to Cory keeping half for himself. He was one to share with others

Cory took the bread willingly but slyly shoved it deep into the pocket of her dress. She hastly hid it and intertwined her fingers together in front of her, her face completely calm. Cory was still ify about what she had done so she tried not to make it obvious that she had done something. Drama was one of the last things she needed to deal with.

RuneHawk soon finished his meal, starting to pack up camp. "Ready to continue?" he asked as he carefully scuffed the remains of the fire pit away, incase of pursuit. Something he was used to doing

Cory nodded readily and stood, her feet aching still from the day before. She ignored the pain silently and gathered her things, turning to go in the direction they were heading. "Nice day..." she muttered to herself, her voice very musical and sweet.
